The new economic reality - what does it mean for pensions? with guest speaker Paul Johnson CBE, Director of the Institute for Fiscal Studies

Events

3:00pm

On-Demand

This is our second webinar following the political and market turmoil since the 'mini-budget' on 23 September. With the date of this webinar being six weeks on from that now revoked budget, we hope DB schemes will by then be through the worst of the liquidity crisis, will have adopted interim investment portfolios, and will be beginning to look forwards to revisiting and confirming their long-term strategies. We also reflect on the Bank of England's Monetary Policy Committee meeting report scheduled for release earlier on 3 November.

Our guest speaker Paul Johnson CBE, Director of the IFS, is a hugely respected commentator and has considerable expertise from within government including a spell as Chief Micro-Economist at HM Treasury.

Paul gives an overview of the current economic outlook. LCP Partner and former Pensions Minister Steve Webb chairs a discussion with Paul and LCP partners Michelle Wright (LCP Head of Pension Strategy) and Steve Hodder (investment specialist) about the implications for DB pension schemes.

This discussion includes consideration of the longer-term implications of the previous six weeks for DB pension schemes and the important strategic decisions that will need to be made by Trustees and sponsors over the coming weeks and months. We also touch on the impact on the UK bulk annuity market.

Who should attend?

Anyone involved in managing DB pension schemes

Duration

1 hour (inc. Q&A)
