as signatory of the UK Stewardship Code

Media centre

LCP has once again been named by the Financial Reporting Council (FRC) as a signatory of the UK Stewardship Code

Signatories of the Code must demonstrate high standards of support for stewardship through the services they provide to clients and the role they play in the investment community. Stewardship is the responsible allocation, management and oversight of capital to create long-term value for clients and beneficiaries, leading to sustainable benefits for the economy, the environment and society.

LCP has published its third stewardship report, outlining how we have helped clients apply stewardship principles to their investments and activities.

Key highlights include:

  • Supporting clients to improve their stewardship and responsible investment activities.
  • Launching LCP’s responsible investment (RI) philosophy, which has an increased focus on stewardship, emphasises the importance of systemic risks and considers the real-world impacts of investment decisions.
  • Working with investment managers to encourage ongoing improvement in stewardship practices.
  • Strengthening stewardship resources to support clients with the continued expansion of LCP’s responsible investment team.

Commenting, Zuhair Mohammed, Head of Investment at LCP, said: “We are delighted with the renewal of our status as signatory of the Code. As upholders of high standards in stewardship, we remain strongly committed to supporting our clients and the wider investment community in this fast-moving area.

“While we spent much of the period covered by our most recent stewardship report dealing with immediate issues, such as the gilt crisis and the cost-of-living pressures resulting from high inflation, we are very much focussed on the need to deal with the longer-term systemic risks, such as climate change, facing our clients and society in general. These risks can only be mitigated through strong stewardship and engagement. Therefore, we will continue to promote good stewardship to help mitigate these risks and protect our clients and the planet.”
